Introducing Softalon Meet: Natively Integrated Video Meetings & Expanded Location Types

Not every salon needs video calls—but if you offer virtual consultations, training, or remote services, they can be the difference between a booked client and a lost one.

We ran into this ourselves. Since we use Softalon to manage demos, support, and internal calls, we needed a fast, frictionless way to jump on video—without sending clients to external tools.

So we built Softalon Meet.

Browser-Native, Premium, and Branded

Traditional video tools introduce unnecessary friction in their experience — clients are forced to download apps or create accounts, which often delays or kills appointments. Softalon Meet removes that friction entirely:

• 100% Browser-Native: No downloads, no external logins, no extensions. Your clients tap the link and join instantly.
• Premium Client Experience: There is no third-party branding. The meeting space matches your salon's branding and colors, giving your clients a seamless, high-end experience that keeps the focus entirely on you.
• Knocking & Member Control: The meeting room uses a single shared link for everyone. However, team members join immediately, while clients are put into a waiting lobby and must "knock" to join. You are always in control of who enters the room.
• Support for Multi-Party Calls: Other team members or clients can join the same meeting link simultaneously.

Active Anytime: Static Rooms for Consultations & Appointments

One of the best things about Softalon Meet is that the rooms are active at any time. They act as always-available virtual meeting rooms linked to either a specific appointment or an individual member of your team.

This makes the transition from booking to meeting seamless. For example:

• Stylists can share a permanent link in their Instagram bio for on-demand consultations.
• A client can click the same link before, during, or after an appointment to reconnect with you instantly.
• Scheduled Appointments: Standard booking slots where the meeting link is automatically generated and sent to the client.

How to Access Softalon Meet

1. Go to your dashboard and open either an Appointment details page or a Member profile.
2. Click the Share button.
3. Select Action Links and click on Meeting.

You can also use these links in your automated workflows. By referencing action links in your custom email, SMS, or push notification templates, Softalon will automatically inject the correct meeting link for every appointment.

Fair-Use Limitations

To prevent abuse and keep the platform running smoothly, meetings currently have a 1.5-hour duration limit. If your session goes over, you can simply click the same link to rejoin and resume the conversation immediately. As usage grows, we will monitor patterns and adjust these parameters accordingly.

Secondary Release: Expanded Location Types

This release is part of a broader shift: supporting not just where you work, but how you work. Along with Softalon Meet, we are introducing new Location Types based on real-world usage patterns we've observed from salon owners and beauty professionals. You can manage these settings on the Locations page under the type field.

Here are the four location types you can now configure:

1. Physical (Salon)

The standard, static salon storefront location that has been there from the very beginning, where the client travels to your physical business address.

2. Private

We noticed that many home-studio owners or independent stylists are highly protective of their address and prefer not to post it publicly. For Private locations, the address is not stored or shared by Softalon in public listings. Instead, the member is responsible for sharing the private address with the client through their own preferred communication channel after confirmation.

3. Online

This represents virtual appointments. You are not forced to use Softalon Meet; you can use any external video link or custom setup. Simply configure the link in your automated workflow templates so that it gets injected when reminders or confirmations are sent using action links. Alternatively, you can use the out-of-the-box Softalon Meet link.

4. Mobile

Mobile locations allow you to show no prior location address on your booking page. The address where the service will take place is collected later. You can collect the address using Custom Fields (which we support natively) or by reaching out to the client directly to discuss where the service will be performed.
