Send birthday messages

A short birthday note keeps your salon in mind. The Client › Birthday trigger starts a workflow once a year for every client with a date of birth.

When the birthday trigger fires

• At midnight (00:00) on the client's birthday, in your salon's time zone.
• Only for clients with a Date of Birth on their profile.
• Not for blocked clients.
• Clients born on February 29 get it on February 28 in years that aren't leap years.

   Step 1 of 4

   Create the workflow

   Go to Workflows, click Create Workflow and choose From Template. Pick the Client Birthday template if it's listed and click Continue.

   To build it yourself, choose From Scratch and set the trigger to Client › Birthday.

   Send it at a friendlier time

   Midnight isn't a great time for a message. Add a Wait/Delay step right after Start Workflow, for example 9 hours, so the message goes out at 9:00 AM.

   Write the message

   Add or edit a Send Notification step. With this trigger, the client is the event's main record, so use variables like these:

   • Recipient for email: {{ $event.data.object.emailAddress }}
   • Recipient for SMS or WhatsApp: {{ $event.data.object.phoneNumber }}
   • Recipient for push: {{ $event.data.object.id }}
   • First name in the text: {{ $event.data.object.firstName }}

   Keep it a greeting. A message that reads like a promotion, such as a discount offer, may fail the content check on email and SMS.

   Save and turn it on

   Click Save, then make sure the workflow's switch is on on the Workflows page.

   You will see:

   The card shows Client - Birthday as the trigger.
