Softalon charges your salon's subscription and credit purchases to the payment methods saved in Plan & Billing. These are your payment methods for paying Softalon. They're separate from the payment methods your clients use to pay you.
Before you start
- You're the salon owner. Only the owner can open Plan & Billing.
Primary and backup
Each saved method can have one of two labels:
- Primary: Softalon charges this method first for renewals.
- Backup: if a renewal charge on the primary method fails, Softalon tries this one.
Setting a backup is the easiest way to avoid a failed renewal when a card expires or hits its limit.
Add a payment method
- 1
Step 1 of 2
Open Payment Methods
Go to Settings βΊ Plan & Billing and find the Payment Methods card. Click Add Payment Method.
- 2
Step 2 of 2
Enter the details
Enter your card details in the form and click Add Payment Method.
You will see:A toast that says Payment Method Added, and the new method in the list with its last four digits and expiration date.
If it's your first payment method, it becomes your primary method automatically.
Set the primary or backup method
- In the Payment Methods card, click the menu button next to a method.
- Click Set as Primary or Set as Backup.
You'll see Payment Method Updated, and the label appears next to the method.
When you pay for a plan change or a new subscription with a method, Softalon also makes that method your primary.
Update an expiration date
If your bank sent you a new card with the same number but a new expiration date, you can update it without adding the card again.
- Click the menu button next to the card and click Update.
- In Update Payment Method, choose the Expiration Month and Expiration Year.
- Click Update.
You'll see Payment Method Updated. This option is only available for cards. If you have a new card number, add it as a new payment method instead.
Remove a payment method
- Click the menu button next to the method.
- Click Delete.
You'll see Payment Method Deleted.
You can't delete your primary method. To remove it, first set another method as primary, then delete the old one.
If something is off
Delete is grayed out
The method is your primary payment method. Set another method as Primary first.
Failed to add payment method
Check the card number, expiration date and security code, and make sure your bank allows online payments. If your bank asks you to confirm, complete that step. Then try again, or use a different card.
My subscription is Past Due after I added a new card
Adding a card doesn't charge the open invoice right away. Set the new card as Primary so the next automatic retry uses it, or pay the invoice now from the Invoices card. See My subscription payment failed.
