A service is anything clients can book, like a Women's Haircut or a Gel Manicure. Creating it is the first step. A new service isn't bookable until you turn it on for at least one location and at least one team member.
Before you start
- You need the Super Administrator or Owner role. The Services page is hidden for other roles.
- If you want to group services, create a category first.
- If you charge tax, set up a tax rate first.
- 1
Step 1 of 7
Open the new service form
In the sidebar, go to Services and click Create Service.
- 2
Step 2 of 7
Name and describe the service
Fill in the first card:
- Name: required. Each service name must be unique in your salon.
- Category: pick a category, or leave it Uncategorized.
- Excerpt: a short line shown in the service list on your booking site.
- Description: the full text shown on the service's details page.
- 3
Step 3 of 7
Set the duration and buffers
Choose a Duration from 5 minutes up to 24 hours.
Turn on Buffer Before or Buffer After if you need time to prepare or clean up. Buffers go up to 2 hours. Clients don't book the buffer time, but it blocks the team member's calendar, so the next appointment can't start until the buffer ends.
- 4
Step 4 of 7
Set the price and tax rate
Turn on Price and enter the amount. Below the field you can see how the price will look on your booking page.
Pick a Tax Rate, or choose No Tax Rate.
- 5
Step 5 of 7
Choose the visibility
Leave Private Service off to list the service on your booking site. Turn it on to hide it from the list and share it only by direct link. See Hide a service from your booking site.
- 6
Step 6 of 7
Create the service
Click Create at the bottom of the page.
You will see:A Service Created message, and you're taken to the saved service. Its other tabs, like Locations, Members and Gallery, are now ready to use.
- 7
Step 7 of 7
Make it bookable
Open the Locations tab and turn on the switch for each location that offers the service. Then open the Members tab and turn on the switch for each team member who performs it. The switches save right away.
You will see:A Location Added or Member Added message for each switch you turn on.
Clients see a service only when it is active, assigned to a location, and assigned to a team member who has working hours at that location. See How available times are calculated.
Other things you can add
- Gallery: photos and videos. See Add photos to services and locations.
- Different prices or durations for a location or a team member. See Set different prices or durations per location or member.
- Resources like rooms or equipment. See Require rooms or equipment for a service.
- Advanced: a deposit policy and custom booking questions. See Require a deposit and Ask clients custom questions when they book.
Turn a service off
On the Services page, use the switch in the Status column. Inactive services aren't offered for booking, and you keep their settings.
If something is off
I get an error that the service already exists
Service names must be unique in your salon. Pick a different name, for example Women's Haircut – Long Hair.
The service doesn't show on my booking site
Check that the service is active, isn't private, is turned on for a location on the Locations tab, and is turned on for at least one team member on the Members tab. That team member also needs working hours at the location.
Common questions
The service has no set price. It is treated as free when an invoice is created, and no deposit is taken for it.
