A tax rate tells Softalon how much tax to show and charge on a service or product. Each service and product can have one tax rate. Invoices use it for every line, both on bookings and on invoices you create.
Before you start
- You need the Super Administrator or Owner role. The Tax Rates page is hidden for other roles.
- Your Softalon subscription must be active.
Inclusive or exclusive
Choose the type based on whether your prices already include tax.
Tax is always calculated after any coupon discount.

- Type: Inclusive or Exclusive.

Step 3 of 3
Assign it
Open the tax rate's actions menu and choose Assign to βΊ All Services or All Products.
You will see:A Tax Rate Assigned message, and Assigned To shows the number of services or products.
Assign to replaces the tax rate on every service or product, including ones that had a different rate. If some services need a different rate, assign the common rate first, then change those services one by one.
Set a tax rate on one service or product
Open the service or product and choose its Tax Rate, or No Tax Rate. See Create a service and Add products.
Remove a tax rate
Open the tax rate's actions menu and choose Unassign from βΊ All Services or All Products. Only the services or products that use this rate are cleared.
What you can change later
You can only Rename a tax rate. The type and rate can't be changed, and tax rates can't be deleted. If your tax changes, create a new rate and assign it. Assigning replaces the old rate.
How changes affect invoices
- New bookings use the service's tax rate at the time of booking.
- Invoices that already exist keep the tax rate on each of their lines. Assigning a new rate to your services doesn't change them.
- Finalized invoices never change.
Common questions
