Connect a custom domain

You can run your booking site on a domain you own, like hairhaven.com or book.hairhaven.com, instead of your onsoftalon.com address. Softalon sets up the security certificate for you once your DNS records are in place.

   Add the domain

   Go to Settings › Domains. In the All Domains card, click Connect. Enter the domain, for example book.hairhaven.com, and click Connect Domain.

   You will see:

   A Domain Connected message appears and the Domain Configuration dialog opens with your DNS records.

   Add the DNS records

   The dialog lists two records. Click a value to copy it, then add both records at your domain provider.

   Record	Purpose	Host
   TXT	Proves you own the domain	_softalon-verification for a root domain like hairhaven.com, or _softalon-verification.book for book.hairhaven.com
   A	Points a root domain to Softalon	@
   CNAME	Points a subdomain to Softalon	The subdomain part, such as book

   You add the TXT record plus either the A record (root domain) or the CNAME record (subdomain). Copy the values exactly as the dialog shows them.

   Or let your provider do it

   If your domain is with a provider that supports automatic setup, the dialog shows an Automatic Configuration box. Click Configure Automatically, sign in to your provider, and approve the changes. You come back to Softalon with a message that your DNS was updated.

   Wait for verification

   Softalon checks your records every 5 minutes. To check right away, click Check Now in the dialog, or choose Verify Now from the domain's menu, then refresh after a few seconds.

   When both records are found, the domain's status changes from Not Configured to Active. The Verified At and Configured At columns show when each record was found.

   Make it your primary domain

   Once the domain is Active, pick it in the Primary Domain card and click Save. Your booking site now uses this address, and your onsoftalon.com address redirects to it.

How long it takes

DNS changes usually take a few minutes, but can take up to 48 hours to spread across the internet. Softalon checks pending domains automatically for 3 days after you add them. After that, use Check Now or Verify Now to check again.

After your domain is active

Softalon re-checks active domains about every 12 hours. If a record is removed or changed, the domain goes back to Not Configured and stops working until you fix the record. Keep both records in place for as long as you use the domain.

Remove a domain

Open the domain's menu and choose Disconnect. You can't disconnect the domain that's currently primary. Switch the Primary Domain to another domain first.

If you change plans

If your salon moves to a plan without custom domains, your primary domain switches back to your onsoftalon.com address automatically.
