Salon settings are for the people who run the salon. Super Administrators and the Owner can open almost every Settings page. Plan & Billing, transferring ownership and deleting the salon are for the Owner only.
Users and Administrators don't see Settings in the sidebar. To give someone access, change their role. See Change a team member's role.
Find a setting
Open Settings in the sidebar and type in Search settings... at the top of the list. The list filters as you type, including sub-pages such as the pages under Appearance. You can also press ⌘K or Ctrl+K and search from the command bar.
The settings list only shows the pages your role can open.
Access by page
Administrators and Users can't open any of these pages.
What each page needs
Behind the scenes, each page checks a permission. Super Administrators have all of them except Billing, which only the Owner has.
Owner-only actions
Some actions check the role itself, not a permission:
- Transfer Ownership on Danger Zone. See Transfer salon ownership.
- Delete Salon on Danger Zone. See Delete a salon.
- The setup wizard. See Complete the setup wizard.
Only the Owner should use Delete Salon. When anyone else uses it, Softalon doesn't delete the salon. It removes that person from the salon instead, the same as leaving it.
Settings managed outside Settings
Some salon-wide items live on their own pages and follow different rules:
- Closed periods appear on Company and on the calendar. See Close your salon for a holiday.
- Services, Products, Locations and Workflows need Super Administrator or Owner.
- Team members are managed on Members by Administrators and up. See Roles and permissions explained.
Common questions
No. Access comes from the role. To open settings, a member needs the Super Administrator role.
