You can move to a bigger or smaller plan, or switch between monthly and yearly billing, at any time. The change takes effect right away.

Before you start

  • You're the salon owner. Only the owner can open Plan & Billing.
  • Your subscription is Active or Trialing. If it's Past Due, pay the open invoice first. See My subscription payment failed.
  • To compare plans first, see Plans compared.
  1. 1

    Step 1 of 4

    Open Plan & Billing

Go to Settings β€Ί Plan & Billing. In the Subscription card, click Manage, then Change Plan.

  2. 2

    Step 2 of 4

    Choose the new plan

Pick Monthly or Yearly at the top, and change the currency if you need to. Your current plan shows Current Plan and can't be selected.

Click the plan you want, then click Continue.

  3. 3

    Step 3 of 4

    Review the changes

The Review Changes screen shows a Billing Summary:

    • The new plan at its full price, for a new billing period that starts today.
    • A negative line, Unused time on your current plan, for the part of the current period you haven't used yet.
    • Applied Balance, if you have an available balance.
    • Total Due Today.

You can also add a coupon code here.

Choose a saved payment method or add a new one. Softalon makes the method you pick your primary payment method.

  4. 4

    Step 4 of 4

    Confirm

Click Confirm Update. If your bank asks you to verify the payment, follow the prompt.

    You will see:

A toast that says Subscription Updated, and the new plan name in the Subscription card.

How the price is calculated

Every plan change starts a new billing period on the day you change. You pay the full price of the new plan, minus a credit for the unused time on your old plan.

For example, Emma Johnson at Hair Haven is on Starter at $49 a month. Halfway through the month she moves to Accelerate at $99. The unused half of Starter is worth about $24.50, so she pays about $74.50 today. Her next renewal is one month from the day she changed.

If you have a coupon on your current plan, the credit is based on what you actually paid.

When the total is negative

If the unused time is worth more than the new plan, for example when you move from a yearly plan to a monthly one, the total is negative. You aren't charged. The Review Changes screen says that a credit has been applied to your account balance.

That credit shows as Available Balance at the top of the Subscription card. Softalon applies it to your next subscription invoices automatically.

Changing during a free trial

During a trial there's no unused time to credit, because you haven't paid yet. Changing plans ends the trial and charges the full price of the new plan right away. You need a payment method for this.

What changes when you downgrade

The smaller plan's limits apply as soon as the change goes through. Extra members, locations and workflows become inactive, newest first, and features the new plan doesn't include are switched off. The owner always stays active. Nothing is deleted. See Plans compared for the full list.

Credits after a plan change

Softalon removes the old plan's credits for the period and adds the new plan's full monthly or yearly amount. Plan credits you already used this period still count against the new amount. See Credits explained.

If something is off

Change Plan is grayed out

Your subscription is Past Due. Pay the open invoice in the Invoices card, then try again.

The expected total does not match the calculated total

The price changed while the review screen was open, for example because time passed or your balance changed. Close the dialog, open Change Plan again and confirm the new total.

My unused time wasn't credited

The credit only applies when the old and new prices are in the same currency. If you switched currency, the unused time isn't credited.

Common questions

No. Plan changes always take effect immediately, and the unused time is credited.
