When a color takes longer than planned, or a client only needs a quick trim, change the appointment's length instead of rebooking it. The start time stays the same and only the end time moves.

Members with the User role can extend their own appointments. Administrators and above can extend anyone's.

  1. 1

    Step 1 of 3

    Open the Extend form

On the Appointments page, open the appointment's menu and choose Extend. On the calendar, right-click the appointment and choose Extend.

    You will see:

    The Extend Appointment form opens.

  2. 2

    Step 2 of 3

    Enter the minutes

Type the number of minutes to add, or pick one of the suggested amounts from 5 to 60 minutes. To shorten the appointment, type a negative number, for example -15.

  3. 3

    Step 3 of 3

    Save

    Click Extend Appointment.

    You will see:

Appointment Duration Updated appears and the appointment block on the calendar changes length.

Rules

  • The new end time must be free for that member. If the extra time runs into another appointment, blocked time or the end of their working hours, Softalon says The requested extension is not available. Please try extending it by different amount.
  • The appointment must stay longer than 0 minutes.
  • Buffer time after the service is kept and moves with the new end time.
  • The price doesn't change. Extending only changes the time.

Administrators and above can use Manual Override in the form to extend past working hours or over another appointment.

Common questions

No. Extend only moves the end. Use Reschedule to change the start time.
