Coupons give clients a discount. Clients enter the code at checkout on your booking site, and your team can add a coupon to an invoice.

Before you start

  • You need the Super Administrator or Owner role. The Coupons page is hidden for other roles.
  • Your Softalon subscription must be active.
  1. 1

    Step 1 of 5

    Open Coupons

Go to Finances β€Ί Coupons and click Create Coupon.

  2. 2

    Step 2 of 5

    Name the coupon

Enter a Name, such as New Year Discount. The name is shown on invoices and receipts. Each coupon name must be unique in your salon.

  3. 3

    Step 3 of 5

    Choose the type and value

    Under Type, choose:

    • Percentage: a share off, from 0 to 100. A value of 20 means 20% off.
    • Fixed: a set amount off, in your salon currency. The discount is never more than the price.

Enter the Value. It must be more than 0.

  4. 4

    Step 4 of 5

    Set the code

Enter the Code clients will type, such as NEWYEAR20. Codes are saved in capital letters, and each code must be unique in your salon.

If you leave Code empty, Softalon makes one from the name, in lowercase with dashes, such as new-year-discount.

  5. 5

    Step 5 of 5

    Create it

    Click Create Coupon.

    You will see:

A Coupon Created message. The coupon appears in the list with its Code, its Terms (for example 20% off) and the Status switch on.

How the discount is applied

The coupon applies to the whole invoice. A percentage coupon takes that share of the subtotal. A fixed coupon takes its amount, up to the subtotal. Tax is calculated on the discounted amount. If the booking needs a deposit, the deposit is worked out after the discount.

There are no usage limits or expiry dates. A coupon works until you turn it off or delete it.

Clients must type the code exactly as it appears in the Code column, including capital letters and dashes. Click a code in the list to copy it.

Turn a coupon on or off

Use the switch in the Status column. When it's off, clients see that the code isn't found, and your team can't add it to an invoice. Invoices that already have it keep their discount.

What you can change later

You can only Rename a coupon or turn it on or off. The type, value and code can't be changed. To change them, create a new coupon and turn the old one off.

Delete a coupon

Open the coupon's actions menu, choose Delete and confirm. Invoices that used it keep the discount they already have.
